Debby Young

Debby is a Clinical Research Nurse at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland from Newbury, OH. She trained in Nevada and received her pilot certificate in 1997. In February 2001, she flew from Ottumwa, Iowa to Ottowa, Illinois, a flight of 181 miles in 9.5 hours, setting the AX5 Feminine World Records for both Distance and Duration. That same year, she attended the Wildhorse Women's Championship in Pendleton, Oregon, taking 2nd place.

Debby won the NOBPA Women's Champion from 2003 through 2006 and was both the Findlay Flag Days Champion and the BFA Ohio Champion in 2007. Debby has participated in hot air ballooning since 1993, working on the measuring team, as an Observer, Debriefer and since 2006, has been the Event Director of the Blossom Time Balloon Festival in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Balloonmeister at the Champaign County Balloon Festival in Urbana, Ohio. Debby spends most weekends in the summer and fall flying in events throughout the US and Mexico.
