    Hi!

I found your event online and it looks like a Blast! I am from Cincinnati and would like to fly up to spend the day and enjoy the festivities. will the runway be open for individuals looking to fly in for the day?

    1. The runway will be open Friday & Saturday until 5pm – so if you wish to fly up, please plan to arrive before then. After the festivities, the runway will re-open at 11:59pm for your return flight.

What if we didn’t want to see Bret Michaels? And only the balloons?

        1. Good day to you! Thursday requires you to have a Bret Michaels ticket for admission. So if you don’t want to see the concert, I would advise you to come to fest on Friday or Saturday. Both of those days are general admission. See you there!

How far do the balloons travel for rides? Or are they tethered to ropes and come down?

    1. Hi there! For rides, you’re generally in the air for around an hour or so. Distance traveled really depends on the balloon and on weather conditions. There are also tethered rides available. Thanks for asking!

Hello. I just saw your in the AAA magazine and decided to go to your website to check your event out. I’m interested in if the balloons you advertise are anchored all day in one spot?

I don’t want to get them excited about it and then the balloons not be there because it is the wrong time of day.
This would be a new adventure for our family, which we are always looking for.

    Thanks you for your assistance.

    1. Hi Ton – we appreciate your interest in our event! The balloons are not tethered in one spot during the event – they have launch times and can be seen flying around throughout the day and return to do the “balloon glow” in the evenings.

I hope you and your family come and have a great time with us this year!

I have never been before. are the 2 concerts in the same place each day? or are they at different locations? I would really like to see the Reaganomics but don’t want to see Brett Michaels. Do you have to buy tickets specifically for the concert?

    1. Hi Denise! We have different musical guests for each day of the balloon fest. The Bret Michaels concert with Reaganomics is on Thursday, August 11th and admission for that day – which includes the concert – is $20 in advance or $30 at the Gate. The Friday and Saturday concerts are included with the $10 weekend pass. Here is our musical line-up for the weekend:
      THURSDAY, AUGUST 11
      5:30pm – The Reaganomics
      8:00pm – BRET MICHAELS

      FRIDAY, AUGUST 12
      5:30pm – Jacked Up
      8:00pm – CASSADEE POPE

      SATURDAY, AUGUST 13
      3:00pm – Blu Kuda
      5:30pm – Chapel Hill
      8:00pm – Bon Journey

      Hope that helps!!!

Are there things to do for smaller children? Any rides or activities?

    1. Hi Jessica – We have lots of fun activities planned for the kids! If your kids like bounce houses and slides, Kidz City admission is $10 – all you can jump! There will be face painting and visits from the Ninja Turtles, Batman and Star Wars characters. And don’t forget how fascinated kids are by the balloons themselves – there will be so many different shapes and colors this year and getting to see them close up can be very exciting. Kids love the balloon fest – we hope to see you there!

If we have preferred seats for Bret Michaels do we need to bring our lawn chairs? If we do and it’s a general admission to that area, do we have to stay in our seats to save our spot?

    1. Hi Vicki! Congratulations on getting ahold of the preferred seats before they were sold out. Yes, you do want to bring your own chairs – and we can’t guarantee that no one would move them if you left, but it hasn’t been a problem in the past. Last year, I brought my sons to this festival on a Saturday night. I live about 40 minutes away and it took me 3 hours to get there and park! The last 2.5 hours was spent trying to drive a distance that should take 5-10 minutes! Is something being done this year to speed things up?

    1. Hi Karen, sorry for the frustration you experienced last year – as we grow we are always working to find ways to get people in and out quicker! This year we will have a second entrance available for Friday and Saturday and we are trying to get the word out to bring exact change for your $5 parking which will speed things up quite a bit!

    1. Hi Dan – unfortunately, at this time you cannot park overnight at the airport. There are several nice campgrounds nearby such as The Raymond House in Raymond, Ohio – there is also a Walmart in Marysville that offers free overnight parking for RV’s.

  2. I have conformation email for Balloon Ride, but where do I pick up the ticket. Thanks

    1. Pick up your ticket at the front gate at 5pm! Aim early because traffic will be heavy and we want to make sure you get your ride.

  3. If it is raining and thunderstorms in the forcast will the balloons still set up?

    1. Great question Sherri – especially in light of the current forecast in which the possibility of an occasional storm is still “up in the air” (pun intended…). The Ballonmeister and the safety officer will make the call if there is any weather that could be dangerous to the balloonists or spectators, but the event will go on rain or shine. Keep in mind that there is plenty to do in case of a weather-related delay such as helicopter rides, the bands, the great food and fun!

Why would they turn the online sales off before midnight? If I would have known I wouldn’t have waited and checked the weather. False advertisement if you ask me! Anything to get an extra $10 from people.

    1. Hi Megan – sorry for your frustration, but we did let people know that the online sales would be ending yesterday. Ticketfly is not run by the Marysville Journal Tribune, so we were not in control of what time they ended. But, it’s not too late to get tickets! You can still buy your tickets at the gate and we are hoping the weather holds out so everyone can have a great time this weekend. Be sure to bring your chair – and an umbrella just in case.

  4. How do I purchase tickets online for Thursday?

    1. Hi Geoff – online sales for Thursday are closed! But, you can still get your tickets for tonight for $30 at the gate and you can still buy online tickets for Friday and Saturday at http://www.eventbright.com. See you there!!!

That said, the balloons are of course subject to weather-related delays occasionally, but that will be the call of the Balloonmeister and the safety officer. There are many things that will not be effected if it rains: Helicopter rides, concerts, great food, etc. – we do recommend you bring an umbrella just in case of showers.

    1. Hi Rhandi – sorry for your disappointment, but the Balloonmeister and the Safety officer and the FAA all put the safety of the balloonists and the attendees first and there was too much lightning nearby and the winds were too high for the balloons to glow last night. Luckily, there are so many other things to do at the fest – the Bret Michaels concert was a big hit last night! We are crossing our fingers that the weather is great for flying and glowing tonight.

    1. Hi Sonya – thank you for your inquiry! The admission includes your entry into the event grounds and all the sights within including musical performances, there will be different times when balloons inflate, take off and glow and there will be planes and helicopters taking off and aerial shows taking place above the event. Parking is $5, so carpooling will save you a bit of dough. You can buy food, drinks and merchandise from our vendors and you can get a tethered balloon ride for $20. Full rides in balloons and helicopters and such can be scheduled before you go – follow the links on our “rides” page. Kid City also has a $10 admission church for all-you-can-jump! I have heard traffic was an issue in prior years. How much time would you project driving would take from 161 & I270 area of Columbus, Ohio on Friday and Saturday? Is there a time of day when traffic is heaviest on Friday or Saturday?

Is the $10 Kidz City admission required for each parent and child? If an infant (less than 6 months) is present, must an additional admission be purchased?

Is blanket seating permitted (in lieu of chairs)? Is there a grassy area available for this if we are ok being away from the performance stage? Is there any shade or can guests put up a small shade or pup tent or umbrella for an infant to rest in/under?

I read that no coolers are permitted. Can we leave infant formula in a cooler in the car? Or can we carry an insulated lunch bag for infant formula?

Thanks! Hoping to make a family day of this event.

    1. Hi Peggy – thank you for your interest in our event, I will try and answer all of your questions here – please, let me know if I miss anything!

We did have some issues with slow, congested traffic in the past, but traffic was much smoother this past year with two entrances available! This year we will direct attendees to come in through the Weaver Road entrance for quick access to the parking area and much less possibility for congestion and we will bring vendors, volunteers, handicap parking and anything that will take a little longer to sort out through the Clymer Road entrance. We also encourage people to bring cash and exact change for parking to ensure a speedy entrance to the fest!

We estimate driving should take 30-40 minutes from 161/270 and traffic is likely to be the heaviest between 6-8pm.

$10 is the fee for Kidz City for all jumpers! Parents are not required to pay anything and neither would an infant in arms.

Blanket seating is permitted, but there are not grassy areas available. The stage is facing towards a paved area beyond which is a building. There is no shade available in the area for spectators and no tents or pop-ups are allowed, but you are welcome to bring umbrellas.

You can leave infant formula in a cooler in the car or carry it in, but be aware that bags will be checked and we do not permit outside food or beverages other than infant formula.

I hope that covers everything you need to know to have a fun family outing at our fest this year!!!

    Are strollers permitted?

So for Thursday you have to buy to tickets for the concert to get in? and is the $10 admission to the kids area in addition to entrance fees or is that the cost for kids to get in and use the kids area?

    1. Hi Kate – There is free admission for kids 12 and under on Friday and Saturday, but yes, if you’d like to bring them on Thursday, you would need to buy them a ticket. Kidz City will be available on Friday and Saturday and it is $10 for each jumper – all you can jump! We hope to see you there!

I am not interested in seeing the bands. Do we still need to pay those ticket prices just to watch the balloons launch?

    1. Hi Amy – thanks for your interest, Thursday night tickets are a little more expensive due to the national talent we have coming – Clint Black – however, the weekend admittance pass for Friday and Saturday is only $10 and it includes viewing the balloons and other aerial entertainment and all of the musical entertainment we have scheduled for those days!

I have tried to purchase tickets online for Thursday twice and it is not $20 it adds charity donations and services fees through this website you directed to, so it is over the $30 price you want at the gate. That does not make much sense to me so what am I missing?

    1. Hi Nan – the ticket price for Thursday with Clint Black does increase as we get closer to the event, it was $20 for advance tickets but it goes up to $30 this week. Plus, Ticketfly charges convenience fees for buying the tickets online. You are welcome to stop by the Marysville Journal-Tribune – 207 N. Main St. Marysville – or buy your tickets at the gate if you’d like to avoid those fees.

We have been to a festival before where the balloons didn’t fly due to wind factors. Do you have any idea about what MPH winds would cancel flights? Thank you.

    1. Hi Gloria – yes, hot air balloon festivals are extremely weather dependent and it’s very hard to predict if the scheduled launches and glows will have to be delayed or even cancelled sometimes. We never want to disappoint anyone, but the safety of our pilots, crews, passengers and attendees has to come first. Rain and wind speeds over 10 mph can endanger the lives of people involved in a hot air balloon flight. So, cross your fingers with us and hope for clear, calm skies this weekend!

  5. Is there any seats provided for the bands? Or is it strictly bring your own chair?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Cheryl – you should bring your own lawn chairs to sit and enjoy the concert and balloon glow.

    1. Hi Bonnie – since we work with volunteers, it’s hard to say for sure what will be there at what time, but in the past we have had a balloon artist, face painting, costumed characters and more! We for sure have five jumpies including an obstacle course, slide and bounce house – it’s always a great time for kids who like to jump!

Someone has said that Weaver Road is going to be one way between Scottslawn and the entrance. Is that correct? I need to plan getting home from work, etc.

How many balloons go up during the fast-track launches versus the 6:00 launch? Also, can a sandwich and bottle of water be brought in if you don’t use a cooler? Haven’t been there before and all it says on the schedule is Fast Track launches with no description

    1. Hi Cathy – the fast traxx launches are sky divers – they do tandem jumps and jumps with the American flag and aerial tricks and stunts. We ask that you respect our food and drink vendors by not bringing in outside food and drink. We’re a non-profit event, but they rely on your business to keep coming back every year.
